About

Originally from an old mining town in Northern California, Marya found herself (almost magically) transplanted to Paris in 2008.  Where her daily activities once included digging in the dirt and staring contests with the neighbor’s cows, she has now found herself worrying over her immigration status, having private dance parties with her husband, helping an artist in his Montparnasse studio (the Paris Territory), writing reviews for gogoparis.com, showing wayward tourists through the louvre, drawing, taking photos, and writing about her life and the art here in Paris.

Hello Marya,
I have been following and enjoying your Paris blog, which I came across quite by chance after searching for “the Territory” on Google.
In September I am starting a course at the Sorbonne, as a third year Classics student, never having been to Paris before.
I as yet have nowhere to live, and plan to go to Paris to look for somewhere next week. I’d love to live in a community as artistic as the Territory, but my internet searches so far have been fruitless.
Do you know of anywhere similar where a homeless student in my position might apply?
Yours,
F
